Mbai Bassa California was founded in 2012 by a few Bassa Bati Mpoo families living in the San Francisco bay area to respond to a pressing need. Contrary to other communities, there was no organization regrouping people of Bassa Bati Mpoo origin and their friends in Northern California.
Since then Mbai Bassa California has put in place a certain number of solidarity mechanisms including: (1) a Solidarity fund to assist members when they experience a life event such as a new born, marriage, loss of a parent or a member; (2) Scholarships to our children graduating from middle and high school; (3) A loan fund to help members deal with emergency situations.
In 2021 Mbai Bassa California launched Mbai Bassa Community a California 501 c3 public charity corporation dedicated to funding community projects in the Grand Sanaga region of Cameroon, educating the US public about the richness of Bassa Bati Mpoo cultures and traditions and facilitating the integration in the USA of Bassa Bati Mpoo people.
